Taohuayuan House is the most expensive house in China and is located in the middle of Suzhou's Dusho lake on a private island. It was build according to the laws of feng shui and the classical gardens of Suzhou are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

It took three years to build Taohuayuan House and it is over 72,400 square feet. It has 32 bedrooms and 32 bathrooms with views of Dushu's lake. There is a huge walk-in cellar and a pool overhanging the lake and the garden. You can enjoy craggy rocks, typical flora and a waterfall outside.

The name of the house means Utopia or Peace Blossom Land. It is about a 1.5 hours' drive west from Shanghai. All of it's 32 bedrooms face south. The recommended site seeing time is 3-4 hours. I do not think you can tour the house but you can view the gardens.

The classical gardens of Suzhou consist of 9 gardens. They are considered to be masterpieces of the genre and date from the 11th-19th century. They represent the profound metaphysical importance of natural beauty in Chinese culture in their meticulous design.

The classical gardens of Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, China date back to the 6th century BCE when the city was founded as the capital of the Wu Kingdom. Private gardens began emerging around the 4th century and reached the climax in the 18th century. These gardens are regarded as the finest embodiments of Chinese "Mountain and Water" gardens.

Limited to the space within a single residence, classical Suzhou gardens are intended to be a microcosm of the natural world. They incorporate basic elements such as water, stones, plants, and various types of buildings of literary and poetic importance. The embodiment of artistic perfection has won them a reputation as the most creative gardening masterpieces of ancient China.

It's planning, design, construction techniques, as well as artistic effect have had a significant impact on landscaping in China as well as the world for 2,000 years.

I hope you enjoyed the tour!
